National Arboretum

It felt like we went, this last weekend, just a few days early to the UK's National Arboretum at Westonbirt. Buds were peeping out on the Acers, the magnolia flowers [below] were vibrant but as yet unfurled, and some of the rhododendrons were in full flower, but not all.

I had forgotten what a marvellous and extensive place it is, and what a comprehensive collection of trees there is on view. It's well laid out, and, on a sunny day particularly, a remarkable place to visit. (There's an interactive map of the arboretum here.)
